Institute for Career Development (ICD) is a contractually negotiated benefit available to the workers covered by the union. Classes are customized; set around your specific work schedule, and held at ICD, the hall, off-site at various locations around town, and/or online. Classes are 100% free to union members
YEAR-ROUND CLASSES
Computers: including but not limited to Intro, Excel, Word, & Power Point. Currently, these are available remotely. Looking to provide them in-person very soon
Permit to Carry: Part I is 3 hours, classroom & safety. Part II is 1 hour of live fire practice
Homebuying: spouses/financial partners eligible to attend along with you at no cost to them
Credit Basics: spouses/financial partners eligible to attend along with you at no cost to them

401k/Investing: now, likely Sept 2024. SHORTENED TO 2 WEEKS THIS YEAR! NOT 3! All who attended in 2023 are eligible to attend again. NEED 20 NEW STUDENTS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

TUITION ASSISTANCE
ICD offers up to $2500 per student, per calendar year, to a certain number of students each year. Must work 6 months before eligible to apply. Study is not limited to business or manufacturing
Yes, you can use up to $2500 ICD TA toward CDL training at DMACC. As of Jan 26, 2024, they have no evening instructors, so only full-day, daytime classes are available
USE THE GARAGE
Union members can use the garage to work on personal vehicles. Use ICD’s hoist and tools; bring your own parts and supplies. M-F, 6am-4pm. Reach ICD to reserve a day/time, or pop over to see if it’s available
