Solidarity for Soldiers was established by USW Local 310L’s Next Generation Committee in 2015. It is our goal to bring together the labor community in Des Moines to help veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Each year, we organize a drive to support the Des Moines Homeless Veterans Stand Down. There are hundreds of brave women and men in Central Iowa who have answered the call to serve our great nation and now find themselves struggling. Let’s come together to show them our overwhelming support and gratitude. Donation bins will be located at several locations throughout the Des Moines metro, and items can be donated through the end of August. Monetary donations: Checks can be made to Des Moines Homeless Veterans Stand Down and sent to USW Local 310 Union Hall, 125 NW Broadway, Des Moines 50313. For questions, please call 515-288-9547.

Volunteers needed!
The Stand Down is also in need of volunteers. We would like to organize a group of union members to volunteer this year. The Stand Down will take place September 13-15, and volunteers are needed to assist during the event, especially for breakfast and lunch on the 14th and 15th. Please reach out to USW Local 310 at 288-9547 or to one of the local unions listed below if you would like to volunteer.
